I guess I'll start off by saying my name is Joe. I'm 19 years old and currently taking classes at the Tyler School of Art. I'm a freshman in my second semester. I live off campus about 40 minutes away so everyday is a hike to get here. I plan on moving into the dorms or an apartment up by my school either in a few weeks or next semester though. I'm not sure of what I want to get out of going to school at Tyler yet so I don't have a chosen major yet. I'm hoping by taking all of the required classes at Tyler it will help me to choose a major when I need to when I'm a junior. Right now though I'm considering majoring in some sort of field of art and maybe teaching a little on the side while I pursue my career as an artist.
I've been interested in art since I was very young. My mother was always very good at drawing and painting so it pretty much rubbed off on me. I also like to play pretty much all sports but I mainly enjoy skateboarding and bowling. My favorite medium to use when creating artworks is spray paint. I also like using acrylic paints and paint markers because I like doing very fine details. I was never really into using any other mediums until I took art 3 in my senior year. It really broadened my horizon in the materials I use to create art. It mainly introduced me to everything else so I also like doing drawings in charcoal and pastels now. Basically at the moment my day to day life consists of driving up to school, then when I get home after class I work on my projects for my classes since there is so many of them. On the weekends I try to relax and I usually end up painting murals with a few friends in different towns or cities.
